General questions
Until May 6, 2007 the service was called Orbiphone 01001. Since May 7, 2007 the service has a new name—Low-cost domestic calling. The name change does not affect the quality or the nature of the service in any way.
See detailed service description.
Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling service allows you to make calls at revolutionary low calling rates without having to pay any local BTC charges or any other fixed fees. You can use the service by dialing the 01001 national access code from any fixed-line telephone post*, from anywhere in Bulgaria. Orbitel gives you full control over your account via detailed online statistics and web-interface, which enables you to easily manage multiple telephone posts.
(*) Note: Some limitations apply
To use Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling service all you need is an analog or digital BTC telephone number. You can activate the service from the website once you have purchased credit for your account. Once you’ve signed up, you can begin using the service immediately.
The price is the same, regardless of where you are located. When using the O1001 access code, you do not pay any fees to BTC, only applicable Orbitel rates.
Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling service offers revolutionary rates for international calling. The service also allows you to save on long-distance domestic calling. It is not available for local or mobile calling within Bulgaria.
Yes.
Yes, as long as you own a digital telephone post.
Yes, but that option is available only for Mobiltel, Globul and Vivatel clients. The difference between mobile and fixed-line posts is that mobile users do not use the 01001 access code but enter a local Orbitel access number (entry point). Please note that when you dial an entry point, your mobile telephone bill will record a call made out to a Bulgarian fixed-line number.
To make a call from a mobile telephone number you need to:
- Sign up for the service with your cell number
- Dial your closest entry point.
- Follow the automated instructions.
Yes. We will provide you with a PIN number, which you enter every time you make a call. Check out the following description of how to use the service from an analog telephone.
You can use Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling from any BTC telephone post subscribing to unlimited standard calling plans. You cannot use the service if you subscribe to one of the following limited calling plans:
- Handicapped Calling Plan Package
- Low-cost Calling Plan Package
- Limited Calling Plan Package
Unfortunately, due to state regulations, you cannot dial Bulgarian mobile numbers using the 01001 access code. It is possible to make such a call via an entry-point.
Important!
Since calling a Bulgarian mobile number via an entry-point is twice as expensive (you pay entry-point access to BTC and you pay Orbitel 50 st./min), it doesn’t make sense to use the service this way. You should call mobile operators this way only when you have to. You can find a complete entry-point list here.
There are no limitations on the number of telephone posts from which you can use the Low-cost Domestic Calling service. All you need to do is add them to your service account profile. The money you have in your account is available for all telephones in your profile.
No. You need to be able to dial 0 as your first digit to be able to use the service.
No. You need to have domestic/international mobile calling enabled on your home telephone to be able to use the service.
Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling is certified telephone service with constant high quality. When using the service you will not experience signal lag, which is typical for VoIP services. It provides you with excellent sound, indistinguishable from traditional technology and correct transfer of your number.
Not only is there an easy way to recommend the service to a friend, but you can also give them a chance to try it out for free through our “Share with a friend” program. Login to your service profile, and select the “Send an invitation” option from the menu. After you fill in the receiver’s email address, you can add a personal message to them too.
You can give 5 leva worth of Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling to a friend. To do so, you need to invite your friend to use the service (from “My calls” section, select “Send An Invitation”). If your invitation is accepted and your friend adds credit to their account, you will receive 30% of the amount of their first payment.
Yes, the program is only available to users with digital telephone posts. Users who participated in free service testing between June-August 2005 are not eligible.

For example, to call 0049123456789 in Germany by using Low-cost domestic calling, you should dial 010010049123456789. That is all you need to do in order to be able to talk.
To add a mobile telephone number (Mobiltel, Globul, Vivatel) from which you can use the service, you need to:
- From the Location menu, choose the “Other” option
- In the “Area code” field, enter the first 4 digits of your mobile telephone number. For example: 0898
- In the “Telephone number” field, enter the rest of your number. For example, 555353

Why am I getting a busy signal after dialing 01001?
After you dial 01001, you should not wait but should immediately dial the number you are trying to call. If you pause between dialing 01001 and the number you are calling, you will hear a busy signal.
In order to use Orbitel’s Low-cost Home Calling service from an analog telephone line, your post must support tonal dialing. Most telephone posts switch from pulse to tonal dialing after you press * (star), but there are telephone posts with a designated “tone-pulse” switch. If your telephone post does not support the above-mentioned switch modes, please refer to its user manual.
