Orbitel announces a change in the executive management

24 April 2007

24 April 2007, Sofia. Orbitel, the next generation telecom, announced a change in the company’s executive management effective as from 21 April 2007. Nikolay Gorchilov and Victor Frances hand over the management of Orbitel to Sandor Polanyi. This is a natural step in the development of Orbitel after the successful completion of the transition period which followed the acquisition of the company by the Hungarian operator Magyar Telecom.

Orbitel started in 1997 with Nikolay Gorchilov and Victor Frances being co-founders of the company. After the change of ownership in February 2006 their main objective was to prepare Orbitel for a transition to the organization of Magyar Telecom. This task was performed successfully within the expected period. As a member the EU Bulgaria will soon introduce the European telecommunication framework which will lead to a greater liberalization of the market. Sandor Polanyi is experienced in the European framework and in management of alternative telecommunication companies. Magyar Telecom relies on him to develop the potential of its investment in Bulgaria.

“Orbitel has been a successful business undertaking for 10 years now and has a market position with a very good potential. Magyar Telecom highly appreciates the contribution of Victor and Nikolay for that success. My challenge is to lead the company to further growth in the new phase of its development and in European business conditions,” Sandor Polanyi stated.
“Orbitel is a dream come true which reached its maturity with the company becoming a part of Magyar Telecom Group. Our task is to ensure the company’s transition is finished,” Victor Frances explained. Sandor Polanyi is an excellent successor in the office of Orbitel’s CEO. We will continue to support him so that he can integrate successfully and lead Orbitel to future achievements,” Nikolay Gorchilov added.

Sandor Polanyi is 52 years old, a Hungarian citizen. He has degrees in electrical engineering and economics. He has abundant professional experience gained at managing positions mostly in the telecommunication sector. He occupied the position of CEO of Vivendi Telekom Hungary Group between 1996 and 2003. Recently he worked for several years as a strategic consultant first for Siemens and then at the Romanian operator of Magyar Telecom Group.
